She Can Run By Melinda Leigh

SHE CAN RUN by Melinda Leigh

Authors overview:

Beth Baker thought she was getting a fresh start at life when she
married Congressman Richard Baker. Handsome and wealthy, with a
sparkling public image, Richard seemed like the perfect man to provide
the security Beth, a widowed mother of two, was craving. But shortly
after tying the knot, Beth realizes she's made a huge mistake. Richard
is not the upstanding gentleman she thought he was-rather he is an
abusive manipulator. And when Beth uncovers a dark secret about her
new husband, she knows Richard will go to great lengths to defend his
image and keep the secret closeted.  To protect herself and her
children, Beth must flee, and fast.
Riveting and full of passion, SHE CAN RUN, is a fast-paced,
multi-layered novel that will grip your heart and leave you on the
edge of your seat in suspense. Melinda Leigh has won numerous writing
awards for her paranormal romance and romantic-suspense fiction. She
lives in New Jersey with her husband and two teenage sons.
Publishers Weekly just gave the book high praise saying:  "In her
debut romantic suspense, Leigh carefully weaves the subplot of a
serial killer with the main plot of an abused wife on the run and
successfully ties the threads in a thrilling conclusion...Leigh's
tight, consistent plotting marks her as an author to watch."

This book by far was hard to put down chapter by chapter in a different view point of killer, victim, and innocent bystander leave you on edge never knowing where the storyline was headed. I highly recommend this read for someone whom enjoys television shows such as CSI and/or Criminal Minds as this storyline was previously something only Hollywood could capture. Leigh has once again blew my mind on how far and distorted a serial killers mind works and how underneath it all a love story looms.

Snowman fun at 70 degrees!!

Recently I was at my local Target and I am a frequent dollar bin shopper as you can always find neat stuff really cheap! I came upon snowman squeeky toys that I know my dogs would go crazy over. If many of you don't know I have two dogs Minnie a pit mix and Chloe a Shar Pei who have two completely different personalities. Minnie likes the snowman toy because she can bite down on it and make of habit of it squeaking while she knows we are not paying attention to her lol! Chloe on the other hand would rather use its softness as a pillow and carries it around like a baby :) These toys were a steal at $2.50 a piece for alittle enjoyment for my dogs...who knows what santa will bring them in their stockings this year from target!!

Tasty Desserts For Thanksgiving

As my husband and I are going to NYC for the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade we decided to make dinner at our home this sunday. As a special treat I made a pumpkin cheesecake and carrot cupcakes :) As you can tell from the pictures hubby could not wait to sink his teeth into the moist carrot cake or the smooth creamy pumpkin cheesecake! I have attached links to the recipes below :)

Here is a press release from the publishing company released yesterday:
NEW YORK, NY (December 13, 2010) — Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, and Stephenie Meyer have donated 1.5 million dollars to the American Red Cross International Response Fund from their proceeds from The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: an Eclipse Novella. As previously announced, one dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing would go to the American Red Cross. The donation was made today by Hachette Book Group CEO David Young and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers Publisher Megan Tingley to The American Red Cross Senior Vice President of International Services David Meltzer.
"I'm so grateful that Little, Brown, the American Red Cross, and my fans made this generous gift possible," said Stephenie Meyer. "It's amazing to have the opportunity to help those so greatly in need."
"We've had the incredible great fortune to have one of the biggest publishing phenomenons in recent years along with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner becoming one of the top selling titles of 2010," said Hachette Book Group CEO David Young. "Giving back is extremely important to the company, so it is particularly gratifying to be able to share our success with an organization as worthy as The American Red Cross."
After the devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12th the International Response Fund (IRF) afforded the American Red Cross the ability to provide immediate funding for food and other urgently needed emergency relief items.
"The generous contribution of Little, Brown to the IRF is essential to the ability of the American Red Cross to provide help and hope for people during their darkest hours," said David Meltzer of the American Red Cross. "After the devastating Haiti earthquake, which took the lives of more than 230,000 people, the IRF allowed us to quickly purchase, ship and distribute aid. The Red Cross is extremely grateful for the support Little, Brown is providing toward our humanitarian mission."
"This kind of donation helps us provide a depth and breadth of services which is hard to match," said Meltzer. "Last year, the American Red Cross helped 68 million people through programs funded by the International Response Fund."
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner has become one of the biggest selling titles of 2010 and has dominated bestseller lists both in the US and around the world. The novella, the first new work from Meyer in nearly two years, debuted at #1 on the USA Today, Wall Street Journal and IndieBound bestseller lists as well as bestseller lists in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the UK.
In five years, Stephenie Meyer has become a worldwide publishing phenomenon. The Twilight Saga's translation rights have been sold in nearly 50 countries and 116 million copies have been sold worldwide.
